The furniture echoes the venue, its history, a stratification of restructuring and changes of purpose, as well as its latest function: an art center. It proceeds by addition, augmentation, hybridization, and repurposing of both existing furniture (IKEA) and products from the cultural fields of art and design. Thus, the base of an IKEA TORSBY table, augmented with a reflective polished aluminum top, becomes a desk named MirRORS, referencing Robert Morris’s minimalist mirror sculptures.
